Carbon Canyon Historical Artifact #22

This post features another La Vida Mineral Springs soda bottle. The "Lime 'N Lemon" brand bottle appears to be from the 1930s or 1940s and, while not in great shape, does have enough of the label to be almost completely readable.

The text below the product name reads "NATURALLY ALKALINE LA VIDA MINERAL WATER / MINERAL CONTENT REDUCED. INGREDIENTS OF LIME / LEMON AND SUGAR. SULFATED AND CARBONATED BY / LA VIDA PRODUCTS, INC. PLACENTIA, CALIF."

Incidentally, the reference to sulfates, or salts of sulphuric acid, refers to the naturally-occurring material in the mineral water used to make the drink.

The last photo shows the stamping of the La Vida Mineral Springs Company name and the Placentia location.

The item is 2009.11.1.1 from the Carbon Canyon Collection.

I'm glad there are some bottles around. I wonder how many people have them sitting in their garage?I WANT ONE!

Hello David, there are probably a lot of bottles in collections out there. Good luck finding one and thanks for the comment!

I have a photo of a La Vida Water ad with a photo of my Murray family. The Large Caption above it read, "LaVida Babies". It was taken about 1930 or 31. I was born in 1932, so only my older brother and sister, plus my Murray cousins were in it. I have a copy of the photo, and my cousin, Evelyn, has an original. I'd by happy to send a copy to this website, if it would be good for historical interest. I visited the hotel in Carbon Canyon some years ago, quite by accident, a few years before it was destroyed. I was surprised to see the old photo (a very large one) on a wall after such a long time.

Hello Anonymous, sorry for the delay. I'd be happy to post the photo and you may want to describe it for the entry. Are you willing to leave an e-mail message as a reply and then I can contact you? Many thanks!
