This past summer, The City Council rejected an appeal of the Planning Commission's 2008 approval of the project, having gone to extraordinary lengths to accommodate the project despite having the issue three Statements of Overriding Consideration to counter significant adverse impacts identified in the Environmental Impact Report--a number of SOCs never before issued to a housing project in the city (and which, therefore, sets a new precedent, favoring development, for the city.)
Hills for Everyone and other partners filed their suit challenging this decision and fundraising has been ongoing to assist in paying the legal fees for this endeavor.
So, next Saturday, 8 November from 3 to 6 p.m., there will be a dinner and auction in Olinda Village as part of the fundraising effort. An Italian dinner, including vegetarian options, will be served at 4:30 and there will also be a silent auction, a perfect time to do some early holiday shopping, and cash, checks and credit cards are happily accepted.
The cost is $50 per person or $75 for two for advance tickets or $60 per person and $85 per couple at the door. Each ticket is for a meal and two drinks with one additional drink ticket available for $5. Being an outdoor event, dress is casual and comfortable.
